Introduction Source tier B — verbatim reporting or hands-on testing: B
Dwarf Shaman is one of the six new combos and the first time Alliance Shamans have existed in a Classic-lineage game. Elemental gets Lava Burst at 21 points (+20% if Flame Shock is up) and Elemental Mastery as its capstone; Restoration gets Riptide, which also boosts Chain Heal on that target by 25%. Lightning Bolt is a 2.5 sec cast and Chain Lightning 2 sec.
Playable by: 🆕 Dwarf, Orc, Tauren, Troll, Windshaper Skyborne.
Best Specialization for Leveling a Shaman Source tier B — verbatim reporting or hands-on testing: B
Enhancement, Elemental 15 after Rage of the Farseer
Both Forever guides call Enhancement the default levelling spec: spell base damage is low, auto-attacks plus Rockbiter/Windfury carry, and Shamanistic Focus/Improved Stormstrike ease the mana problem. After 30: Spirit Weapons, Mental Quickness, Maelstrom Weapon 5/5 (worthless below 5), Rage of the Farseer at 41; Ancestral Knowledge scales both mana and attack power through Mental Dexterity; Elemental 15 makes shocks cheaper and harder.
Sources: Icy Veins Enhancement L30 build with level notes: Shamanistic Focus at 20, Ancestral Knowledge 1 at 24, Stormstrike 25, Improved Stormstrike 30; Legacy points to Imp SS 2, Spirit Weapons, Flurry 5, Mental Quickness (2026-10-05); Wowhead Enhancement L30 build (talent-calc v2-0510320310041001): identical 21 points; avoid Maelstrom Weapon until 5/5 (2026-10-08); Blizzard Mage & Shaman deep dive: Stormstrike 16-pt, Elemental Mastery removed, Rage of the Farseer attack speed only (Elemental Mastery came back as Elemental's 31-point talent on 15 October) (2026-10-07).

Tree layout and talent text come from Wowhead's datamined Forever dataset (dv=30),
pulled 18 October 2026, carrying the 15 October beta build. Names and max ranks were checked against the live client on
25 September; talents changed since then say so in their tooltip. Values can still move between beta builds —
where this page and your client disagree, believe the client. Every talent with per-rank text:

Best Races for Shaman Source tier D — our analysis: D
The racial effects come from Blizzard’s 15 October notes and client data. The ordering is ours — no credible outlet has published Forever race rankings. Every racial in full →
● Alliance only option
| Rank | Race | Racial that earns it | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Best | Dwarf | Stoneform; Earth Fury — +2% critical damage and healing | 🔴 The only Alliance shaman, and new: it gives the Alliance Chain Heal. |
● Horde
| Rank | Race | Racial that earns it | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Best | Skyborne | Wind Blessed — +3% haste | Helps all three specs. Needs the Heroic Pack or higher and starts on Zephras Isle, away from a partner for about the first 12 levels. |
| Second | Orc | Savage — +1% crit; Blood Fury | Crits for Enhancement, and since 15 October Water Shield procs from any spell crit. |
| Third | Tauren | War Stomp — every 90 sec; Endurance — +5% Health | The survival pick. Troll is fourth. |
These rankings use the 15 October build's racials. Since that build no racial needs a weapon type, so Human and Orc crit counts for casters and Hunters too, and Skyborne's +3% haste is the strongest always-on racial for casters (for melee, Human's +2% crit edges it). A later beta build probably existed and was never documented; check the racials again at launch.
New Spells, Reworks & Playstyle Source tier A — official Blizzard or live client data: A
New: Lava Burst, Rage of the Farseer, Riptide, Water Shield, Maelstrom Weapon, Lightning Overload, and Fire Nova as a spell rather than a totem
Rage of the Farseer (Enhancement capstone) is +30% attack speed for 25 sec — the casting-speed half was removed on 24 September, so it is no longer a personal Bloodlust. Since 15 October Grace of Air, Strength of Earth, Windfury and Flametongue Totems reach the whole raid; Windfury and Flametongue stay mutually exclusive, Grace of Air no longer is. Totems are on a 1 sec global cooldown and persistent totems last 5 minutes; Tranquil Air was removed. Elemental was rebuilt on 15 October: Earthbound (Earthbind Totem immobilises for 5 sec on cast) is its 16-point talent, Lava Burst its 21, and Elemental Mastery, removed on 7 October, is back as the capstone; Call of Thunder is gone. Maelstrom Weapon brings the proc-into-instant-cast playstyle down from much later expansions.
From Blizzard's class deep dives (30 September, 7 October and the Paladin one on 15 October) and the beta development notes of 24 September and 1, 8 and 15 October, as recorded in our knowledge base on 23 October. The 15 October build is the last one with notes.
Key Talents & Leveling Milestones
The levels where this build changes how the Shaman plays:
| Level | What arrives |
|---|---|
| 20 | Shamanistic Focus; Water totem quest |
| 25 | Stormstrike (16-pt) |
| 30 | Improved Stormstrike 1/2; Windfury Weapon - the beta's cap |

Every milestone talent in the three trees, with the earliest level you can take it (points = level − 9, all in that tree):
| Tree | Talent | Milestone | Earliest level | Rank 1 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Elemental | Elemental Focus | 11-point | 20 | Gives you a 10% chance to enter a Clearcasting state after casting any Fire, Frost, or Nature damage spell. The Clearcasting state reduces the mana cost of your next damage spell by 100%. |
| Elemental | Earthbound | 16-point (new in Forever) | 25 | Your Earthbind Totem Immobilizes nearby targets for 5 sec when cast. |
| Elemental | Lava Burst | 21-point | 30 | You hurl molten lava at the target, dealing 114 to 145 Fire damage. If your Flame Shock is on the target, Lava Burst deals 20% increased damage. |
| Elemental | Elemental Mastery | 31-point capstone | 40 | Gain mastery over Fire and Lightning, reducing the cast time of Lightning Bolt and Lava Burst by 0.5 sec, and removing the cooldown from Chain Lightning. Lasts 15 sec. |
| Enhancement | Shamanistic Focus | 11-point | 20 | Reduces the mana cost of your Shock and Lightning Shield spells by 45%. |
| Enhancement | Stormstrike | 16-point (new in Forever) | 25 | Instantly strike for normal weapon damage and increase the damage you deal to the target with your next Lightning Bolt, Chain Lightning, or Earth Shock spell by 20% for 12 sec. |
| Enhancement | Spirit Weapons | 21-point | 30 | Gives a chance to parry enemy melee attacks, reduces all threat generated by your attacks by 30% while Rockbiter Weapon is not active, and increases all threat generated by 30% while Rockbiter Weapon is active. |
| Enhancement | Rage of the Farseer | 31-point capstone | 40 | Increases your attack speed by 30% for 25 sec. |
| Restoration | Water Shield | 11-point | 20 | The caster is surrounded by 3 globes of water. When a spell, melee, or ranged attack hits the caster or when one of the caster's spells gets a critical result, 2% of maximum mana is restored to the caster, expending one water globe. Only one globe will activate every few seconds. Lasts 10 min. Only one Elemental Shield can be active on the Shaman at any one time. |
| Restoration | Mana Tide Totem | 16-point (new in Forever) | 25 | Summons a Mana Tide Totem with 5 health at the feet of the caster for 12 sec that restores 88 mana every 3 seconds to group members within 30 yards. |
| Restoration | Nature's Swiftness | 21-point | 30 | When activated, your next Nature spell with a casting time less than 10 sec. becomes an instant cast spell. |
| Restoration | Riptide | 31-point capstone | 40 | Heals a friendly target for 486 to 534, an additional 445 over 15 sec, and increases the effectiveness of your Chain Heal casts directly on that target by 25%. |
Levels 20 to 30 Source tier A — official Blizzard or live client data: A
The beta was capped at level 30 from 1 October until it closed, so this is the stretch it tested. Talent points are level − 9: the 16-point talents are bought at level 25, and a 21-point talent at exactly 30 if every point is in one tree.
Totem management and Water Shield (11 points) are in reach; Totemic Recall comes at 20 and totem bars at 20 and 30. The 16-point talents (Earthbound, Stormstrike, Mana Tide Totem) open at 25; Lava Burst, Spirit Weapons and Nature's Swiftness need all 21 points in one tree at 30.
