Market Niches
Everything below comes from two decoded Auctionator databases pulled from a live beta client 17 hours apart. Not opinion, not a guide someone rewrote from Classic — 1,619 items and 287,900 listings, with every item ID resolved to its Forever name.

Prices: every price on this page is from two dated beta scans, 19 and 20 September. For the latest, use the Market: every item by category, the Forever-only markets and deals and vendor flips. The Market still holds the beta's prices (last scan 20 October); launch realms start empty, so there are no launch prices yet.
This is a throwaway economy. The beta auction house closed with the beta on 23 October; launch on 4 November starts empty. No price on this page is a forecast, and every price is from 19–20 September, when the beta's level cap was 20; the cap has been 30 since 1 October and nothing has been re-costed since. What survives the wipe is the structure — which of these patterns are properties of a young vanilla-lineage economy rather than of this particular Thursday. Those are marked transfers.
๐ด Ore costs more than the bar it makes Source tier A โ official Blizzard or live client data: A transfers
Latest beta prices (to 20 October): Ore, Bars & Stone · Mining.
| Metal | Ore | Bar | Bar รท ore | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Copper | 68c ×1,712 | 80c ×5,138 | 1.18 | +8c to smelt |
| Tin | 4s 26c ×1,489 | 4s 5c ×504 | 0.95 | inverted |
| Silver | 8s 73c ×137 | 5s 99c ×141 | 0.69 | inverted |
| Iron | 73s ×190 | 55s ×253 | 0.75 | inverted |
Three of four metals price the raw ore above the finished bar. That looks like a market error and it is not — it is structural, and it will happen again at launch. Smelting is the only way to level Mining without leaving a city, so every levelling miner is a buyer of ore and a seller of bars. The demand for ore is skill-ups, not metal.
Never buy ore to smelt for profit. If you gather, sell the ore, not the bars. If you need bars, buy bars. Almost everyone will do the opposite because “buy ore, smelt, sell bars” is what twenty years of gold guides say.
๐ The reagent-bag market has no incumbent Source tier A โ official Blizzard or live client data: A
Latest beta prices (to 20 October): Bags · Tailoring.
Forever gives every character a dedicated sixth bag slot that only accepts reagent bags. That item class does not exist in Classic, which means nobody has an established supply line and every single character wants one.
| Item | Price | Listed | Gate |
|---|---|---|---|
| Woolen Reagent Bag — 8 slot | 59s | 45 | Tailoring 70 |
| Linen Reagent Bag — 6 slot | 9s | 70 | Tailoring 5 |
| Light Leather Reagent Bag — 6 slot | 10s | 35 | Leatherworking |
| Pattern: Woolen Reagent Bag | 3s | 39 | — |
| Pattern: Linen Reagent Bag | 3s | 30 | — |
The ordinary Woolen Bag — 8 slots, same cloth — sells for 29s against 103 listings and loses money on materials. The Woolen Reagent Bag is 8 slots for 59s against 45 listings. Same wool, double the price, half the competition, and the pattern costs 3 silver.
Corrected: the recipes are now verified from the client's own spell data (20 September), and they replace the guessed margins this page first carried (+17s Woolen, +5s Linen):
| Craft | Recipe | Materials | Sells | Profit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Woolen Reagent Bag (8) | 3 Bolt of Woolen + Fine Thread + Cerulean Dye | 47s 45c | 98s ×15 | +45s 65c (96%) |
| Linen Reagent Bag (6) | 6 Bolt of Linen + 6 Coarse Thread | 5s 40c | 9s ×50 | +3s 15c (58%) |
| Silk Reagent Bag (10) | 3 Bolt of Silk + 2 Heavy Leather + 3 Fine Thread + 3 Cerulean Dye | not costed | ||
The Woolen Reagent Bag's price moved from 59s to 98s within three hours on thin listings — one seller's ask until it holds. Cerulean Dye is the bottleneck: it is made by Alchemists, not sold by a vendor, and traded at 19s 19c — a second niche with a captive downstream. ๐ Camp Blueprints are tradeable — and they gate every tier-2 object Source tier A โ official Blizzard or live client data: A
Latest beta prices (to 20 October): Camping › Blueprints.
๐ด This corrects something we published. We previously described the tier 1/2/3 camp objects as a trainer line, separate from the Blueprint drops Blizzard mentioned. They are the same thing. Eight Blueprints are on the auction house and each one is a tier-2 camp object carrying exactly the skill requirement we had already recorded for tier 2.
| Blueprint | Requires | Price | Listed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Anvil — an anvil in the field | Blacksmithing 140 | 3g 50s | 4 |
| Toxin Study | First Aid 140 | 3g | 4 |
| Cookie's Feast | Cooking 140 | 2g 25s | 3 |
| Journeyman Campfire — 5 object slots | Cooking 140 | 2g | 18 |
| Repair Bot — repairs and sells reagents | Engineering 140 | 1g 25s | 13 |
| Field Guide | Skinning 140 | 44s | 7 |
| Fermenter | Alchemy 140 | 11s | 23 |
| Arcane Salvager — more efficient disenchanting | Enchanting 140 | 7s | 25 |
Eight tiny, uncontested markets, three to twenty-five units each, for items that are the only route to a whole tier of the camping system. Not yet seen listed: Rock Garden (Mining), Greenhouse (Herbalism), Spinning Wheel (Tailoring), Tanning Rack (Leatherworking), Fishing Rack (Fishing). โ ๏ธ Absence from the board is not absence from the game — and on 8 October the Greenhouse Blueprint was found dropping from Shadetooth in Excavation Site: Wetlands Source tier B โ verbatim reporting or hands-on testing: B.
Disenchanting, repriced Source tier A โ official Blizzard or live client data: A transfers
Latest beta prices (to 20 October): Enchanting · disenchant deals.
Lesser Magic Essence 7s 15c · Strange Dust 1s 99c · Small Glimmering Shard 4s 98c.
Green weapon expected value: 9s 9c, or 8s 63c after the auction cut. Green armour: 5s 38c → 5s 11c. Weapons roll the essence table, armour rolls dust, roughly 75/25 each way. โ ๏ธ The Forever disenchant table is still unpublished — those are Classic odds.
| Fodder | Price | Listed | Margin |
|---|---|---|---|
| Practice Sword | 1s | 30 | +7s 63c |
| Training Sword · Scalping Tomahawk · Severing Axe · Journeyman's Stave · Beaded Orb · Disciple's Stein | 5s | 29–233 | +3s 63c |
| Notched Shortsword · Fire Wand · Shadow Wand · Compact Shotgun · Lesser Magic Wand · Copper Shortsword · Priest's Mace | 6s | 66–294 | +2s 63c |
Every green weapon and off-hand on the board was below break-even. ๐ด Shields are armour and are a trap — they sit beside weapons in search results and roll the dust table. โ ๏ธ Crafted wands' vendor value was cut to 1 copper on 1 October and partly restored on 8 October (Lesser Magic Wand 1s 10c), so a wand bought under that price is a small guaranteed floor again — re-check any wand trade priced before October. Source tier A โ official Blizzard or live client data: A
Buy 20 Practice Swords at 1s and disenchant them. That produces the first published Forever disenchant table, and at that price it pays for itself even if the table is far worse than Classic's.
Vendor items being flipped at up to 33× Source tier A โ official Blizzard or live client data: A transfers
Latest beta prices (to 20 October): vendor flips.
The “Vendor” column is what a merchant charges. The trade is buying from the merchant instead of the auction house (or stocking a merchant item and listing it). It is not buying on the auction house to sell to a vendor: a vendor pays only a fraction of what it charges. On 8 October our scanner's “under vendor” check made exactly that mistake — 16 of 22 hits were false, because Auctionator's vendor cache holds the merchant's buy price — and the genuine margins were 15 copper or less.
| Markup | Vendor | Auction house | Listed | Item |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 33× | 45c | 15s | 3 | Black Dye |
| 22× | 45c | 10s | 19 | Gray Dye |
| 20× | 10c | 1s 99c | 48 | Weak Flux |
| 12× | 40c | 4s 95c | 34 | Hot Spices |
| 11× | 45c | 5s | 27 | Blue Dye |
| 10× | 10c | 98c | 189 | Salt |
| 9× | 45c | 4s | 28 | Red Dye |
| 5× | 13c | 68c | 560 | Empty Vial |
| 4× | 5s | 20s | 23 | Silken Thread |
Hot Spices is the one to watch. A vendor item at roughly 40 copper, trading at 4s 95c with only 34 listed — and Forever's First Aid healing potions now require Cooking spices. That is a vendor-stocked input to a profession that just became mandatory for everyone.
โ ๏ธ Three run the other way, so buy these on the auction house for your own use: Crystal Vial 6s against 20s at a vendor, Leaded Vial 1s against 3s, Flask of Oil 26c against 1s. These are not profits from reselling to a vendor — the vendor pays far less than the 20s it charges.
Crates and writs have gold value before any turn-in Source tier A โ official Blizzard or live client data: A
Latest beta prices (to 20 October): Commerce Factions.
The returning Season of Discovery supply system is being traded as containers — you buy the empty crate, fill it, and hand it in.
| Crate | Price | Listed | Day-over-day |
|---|---|---|---|
| Earthly / Flowering Expert Herbs | 8g 1c | 2 / 1 | |
| Expert Parts | 5g 1c | 3 | |
| Journeyman Fabrics | 49s | 56 | |
| Apprentice Textiles | 37s 99c | 26 | |
| Journeyman Textiles | 21s | 81 | +320% |
| Apprentice Ore | 20s | 115 | |
| Journeyman Parts | 4s 24c | 69 | +748% |
| Apprentice Parts | 5s 95c | 104 | +495% |
Waylaid Crate: Apprentice Textiles wants 40 Linen Cloth. At 31 copper that is 12s 40c of linen — and the empty crate sells for 37s 99c. The container is worth three times what goes in it. If crates drop while you level, selling them raw may beat turning them in, and one evening of turn-ins settles which.
Craftsman's Writs trade 65s to 4g — Silver Skeleton Key 4g, Spider Silk Slippers 2g, Explosive Sheep 98s. Sealed Expert's Writ is 6g with two listed; Sealed Journeyman's Writ is 9s with 34. The sealed envelopes are lottery tickets, the named writs are the orders.
Markets that did not exist in any previous WoW Source tier A โ official Blizzard or live client data: A
Latest beta prices (to 20 October): Forever Markets.
Herb Seeds
Commonplace 90c ×265 — up 800% in a day. Uncommon 35s ×40.
Both read “Plant the seed in a Greenhouse to grow it over time” and “combine at a Seed Hybridizer.” A renewable herb supply with no Classic analogue, feeding the Herbalism tier-2 and tier-3 camp objects.
Imbue and Familiar scrolls
Imbue Striking 44s ×25 · Imbue Frost 9s 97c · Cryoblast 7s ×57 · Frog Familiar 5s 50c ×29.
A new consumable class, thinly supplied.
Scroll: KWYJIBO, CWAL, LOWER PING WHOMEVER and friends are listed 1,400 at a time for 1 silver. Those are Blizzard test items named after old cheat codes. Likewise Crafted Light Shot at 1 copper — someone is dumping ammunition. Volume is not demand.
The day's biggest moves Source tier A โ official Blizzard or live client data: A
The latest beta moves: the Market's Rising and Falling lists.
| Move | Item | Now | What it means |
|---|---|---|---|
| +800% | Commonplace Herb Seeds | 90c ×265 | The Greenhouse market waking up |
| +748% | Waylaid Crate: Journeyman Parts | 4s 24c ×69 | Crates being discovered |
| +399% | ๐ด Camp Chair | 3s 99c ×53 | People found the +2% crit camp object |
| +278% | Empty Vial | 68c ×560 | A 13-copper vendor item |
| +265% | Iron Ore | 73s ×190 | Dropped above the then level cap of 20 — supply was accidental |
Camp Chair quintupling in a day is the most telling number here. The camping system is being discovered right now, and the two strongest objects in it — Fishing's Fish Bowl and Skinning's Camp Chair — sit at skill 20 on professions anyone can rush in an afternoon. Why that matters most to a pair →
Sold out entirely since the previous scan
Listed one day, gone the next — the purest demand signal in the data, because supply hit zero rather than the price moving: Winterfall Firewater (20g), Traveler's Backpack (19g 32s), Pagan Rod (21g 50s), Rakzur Club (12g), Assassin's Blade (10g), Recipe: Superior Mana Potion (10g 46s), Prospector Axe (6g), Greater Mana Potion (70s ×6).
A Traveler's Backpack clearing at 19g while a Linen Bag sits at 4s says the bag market is deep and the top of it is unserved.
- The ore-above-bar inversion. Structural, repeatable, and most people will get it backwards.
- Vendor items listed at 5–33×. Always true. Check the vendor first, every time.
- Break-even beats expected value when the disenchant table is unknown.
- Bags are the reliable crafted good, and the reagent bags have no incumbent.
- Crates and writs carry gold value on their own, before any turn-in.
- Scan once per session. One scan is a snapshot. Two is a trend, and the trend is where the money is.
- Never trust a “below vendor” number until it is checked against what the vendor actually pays for the item.
Two Auctionator databases decoded from a live beta client, 19 and 20 September 2026, at the then level cap of 20 (a dated record, not re-scanned); all 1,765 item IDs resolved via the Forever tooltip endpoint; reagent-bag recipes verified from client spell data (20 September); wand vendor prices from Blizzard's beta development notes (1 and 8 October); Greenhouse Blueprint source from Icy Veins hands-on (8 October); vendor-flip check from our 8 October scanner rerun. The beta economy closed on 23 October. Last updated 9 October 2026.
