Camping & Food

Every camp object in the game — 12 professions, three tiers each — and every crafted-food buff line, pulled straight out of Forever's item data rather than from a press release. As far as we can tell this list does not exist anywhere else yet; Blizzard published eight objects at BlizzCon and the guide sites still carry that same partial list.

How we source

Prices: this page quotes no auction prices. Beta prices for campfire kits, Blueprints and seeds are on Camping on the Market, and for the reagents below under Browse Prices. The Market still holds the beta's prices (last scan 20 October); launch realms start empty, so there are no launch prices yet.

Where this came from

The Forever beta client became dataminable when the beta opened. Everything on this page is read from the live item data — items 279938–279990 are the complete camp-object block — not from BlizzCon slides. Values are real, though Wowhead still warns that some rank scaling may be provisional. Where this page and your client disagree, believe the client.

How it works Source tier A — official Blizzard or live client data: A

Placing a campfire creates a campsite — one-hour buffs, vendors, repairs, profession workspaces, and somewhere to refresh food. Other players can walk up and use it.

3Tiers per professionLearned at skill 20, 140 and 300
1 minTo become restedSitting or crafting nearby both count

The structure nobody had published

Tier 1, at profession skill 20, is a pure stat buff, and each one is exclusive with a specific class buff — they fill gaps rather than stacking on top.

Tiers 2 and 3 are utility objects that also carry the tier-1 buff, and are placed over the tier-1 object to replace it. So upgrading your contribution never costs the camp its buff.

The rest timer is one minute — and it was never actually unknown

Guide sites still list “how long must you rest” as an open question. Every campfire kit's own tooltip answers it in plain text: “Players sitting or crafting nearby for 1 min will gain benefits from other camp features.” Note the second verb — crafting at the fire counts as resting.

Blizzard's 24 September dev notes widened it: sitting, sitting in a chair, sleeping, lying down or kneeling all count, and you may craft, cast and buff while you wait. Source tier A — official Blizzard or live client data: A

Two beta changes to the fire itself

Since 1 October a campfire does no damage to players below level 5 and reduced damage to anyone under 90% health. The same notes reworded a camp feature's Boosted Rest debuff (new icon and tooltip, described as “mutually exclusive”) — what it is exclusive with is not spelled out. Tier 1 — profession skill 20 Source tier A — official Blizzard or live client data: A

The buff tier. Available almost immediately while levelling, which is the point — Blizzard wants professions to matter before 60.

Fishing gives +8% to all stats. Skinning gives +2% crit. Both are skill-20 unlocks on professions anyone can level in an afternoon, and both outclass what the primaries offer at the same tier. You would never guess this from the BlizzCon coverage, which demoed Blacksmithing.

Tier 2 — profession skill 140 Source tier A — official Blizzard or live client data: A

Utility, plus the tier-1 buff. This is where camping stops being a buff station and starts being a portable workshop. Tier 2 is the Blueprint line: these are learned from tradeable Blueprint drops, not from a trainer — Anvil, Toxin Study, Cookie's Feast, Journeyman Campfire, Repair Bot, Field Guide, Fermenter and Arcane Salvager Blueprints were all listed on the beta Auction House on 20 September (their beta prices).

The Greenhouse, hands-on Source tier B — verbatim reporting or hands-on testing: B

Icy Veins found the Greenhouse Blueprint on Shadetooth, the boss of Excavation Site: Wetlands (8 October). Placed, it spawns a planter; one seed grows into a harvestable herb after 8 minutes. Herbalists loot the seeds, in three tiers: Commonplace (Peacebloom, Earthroot), Uncommon (Silverleaf, Kingsblood) and Scarce (Ghost Shroom).

Corrections to the list everyone is carrying

The Sharpening Wheel gives Strength, not Attack Power. Attack Power is Mining's Lodestone. Blizzard's demo slide said Attack Power and every write-up repeated it, this guide included.

Alchemy's skill-20 object is the Mana Well, not the “Alchemy Lab”. The Alchemy Laboratory is tier 3, at skill 300.

The gathering and secondary professions all have complete three-object lines too — Mining, Herbalism, Skinning, Fishing, First Aid and Cooking. The published list implied primaries only.

What the camp objects cost to make Source tier A — official Blizzard or live client data: A

Reagent lists for 38 camp objects in all twelve professions, read from the game client. Alchemy, Cooking, Fishing, Herbalism and First Aid come from our own beta client on the 15 October build, Tailoring and Enchanting from the 1 October build. Blacksmithing, Engineering, Leatherworking, Mining and Skinning (added 24 October) come from the client’s own tables for the latest build, 1.60.1.70532, which match our in-game reads for every recipe we could compare. Each recipe gives one skill-up; tiers 1, 2 and 3 are learned at skill 20, 140 and 300. The number after an object is its tier; Cooking’s kits and objects are listed in skill order.

It goes into the Basic Campfire itself and at least one object in Cooking, Enchanting, First Aid, Fishing, Herbalism, Leatherworking, Skinning and Tailoring. Forever’s vendors stock it: the beta client recorded a merchant price of 38 copper (it sells for 9). Source tier A — official Blizzard or live client data: A So the vendor caps its price and it is not an auction-house play. Source tier D — our analysis: D

Campfires, and the one thing that isn't shared Source tier A — official Blizzard or live client data: A

Capacity is a Cooking skill

Kits have a 5-minute cooldown. All camp features share a separate 1-hour cooldown. Cooks scale a campsite — a real reason to level Cooking past food.

The Faction Banner is two items

Tailoring's banner exists as a Horde version and an Alliance version, and each buffs only members of that faction.

It is the one camp object that does not help everyone at the fire — which matters in a system Blizzard built specifically so strangers would stop in the same place.

Placement: almost anywhere except major cities, with a minimum distance between camps and a level restriction Source tier C — provisional or placeholder data: C. How long a camp lasts is disputed: a developer interview said roughly 10 minutes Source tier C — provisional or placeholder data: C, while Icy Veins' hands-on timed the Greenhouse and Campfire at 15 minutes Source tier B — verbatim reporting or hands-on testing: B. A better-tier object placed over a weaker one wins. And, from Blizzard's own cautionary tale — an internal tester pitched camp on the road in Duskwood, stepped away, and came back to find Stitches had killed her. A campsite is somewhere to rest; it is not a safe zone.

Crafted food Source tier A — official Blizzard or live client data: A

The pattern is identical across every food read: eat 10 seconds seated → Well Fed for 15 minutes. Restore-only foods with no buff also exist and are the cheap tier.

The buff lines

LineStatLevel 1Req 5Req 15Req 25

Teas and smoothies restore identical mana — the only difference is the buff, so casters who do not heal want smoothies (Spirit) rather than teas (Healing Power). Higher tiers continue at req 35 and req 45 in both lines.

Item levelReq levelRestores

2515531 health / 803 mana over 24s
3525841 health over 27s

No Well Fed at all (pure restore, cheap): Bread with Butter · Hard Boiled Eggs · Smoked Sausage · Galestrider Jerky · Fresh Gustberry Bread · Nutritious Slime Sludge · Hippogryph Flank · Red Delicious Stormapple.

Three oddities worth knowing

  • Lightning in a Bottle (req 15) gives 6 Stamina and Spirit — the only dual-stat low-level food found.
  • Expiring Crab Cake is flagged Conjured Item, Unique (5), and grants +3 Stamina Well Fed. If that is the Mage's Conjure Food output, conjured food now buffs — which has no vanilla analogue. Unconfirmed.
  • Hippogryph Flank carries a 14-day duration. Perishable food is a thing in Forever.
Resolved — the +5% experience bonus is real

This page previously flagged the XP bonus as unverified, because no datamined food tooltip mentions experience at all. Icy Veins' beta-written guides state plainly that food buffs now give +5% XP, which matches Blizzard's BlizzCon demo. Treat it as confirmed — the tooltip omission is a display gap, not an absence.

The lesson runs opposite to the usual one. An empty search index is a failed read, not evidence of absence — but here the same instinct was applied to a missing tooltip field and produced a false negative. Data not saying something is not data denying it, and a hands-on report outranks a missing line.

Still unknown

  • Blueprint sources. Tier 2 is the Blueprint line; only the Greenhouse Blueprint's source (Shadetooth) is known. Whether tier 3 also comes from Blueprints, and where the rest drop, is unannounced. Corrected 9 October: this page used to say the tiers above were the trainer line.
  • How long a camp lasts — 10 minutes (interview) or 15 (hands-on).
  • Whether camps persist after the owner dies, logs out or changes layer.
  • Whether opposing factions can use the same camp — and given the Faction Banner splits by faction, this is a real question.
  • How camps behave in PvP and contested zones.
  • Whether further contributions refresh a camp's lifetime.
